Dr. Delores James

Dr. Delores James is a professor, writer, motivational speaker, registered dietitian nutritionist, health educator, social entrepreneur, and founder of Keep It Tight Sisters

Keep It Tight Sisters is a multi-faceted food, health, and wellness brand developed with the goal of helping women love their bodies, foster a nourishing relationship with food, and achieve their health and wellness goals.

Education and Training

Dr. James received her B.S. in medical dietetics from The Ohio State University, her M.S.H.S.E. from the University of Florida, and her Ph.D. in health and human performance from the University of Florida. Dr. James also provides professional training on women’s empowerment; Sister Circles; cultural competence; self-compassion; equity, diversity, and inclusion, and using social media for social good.

She is a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and was the first Fellow of the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Additionally, she is an alumna of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leaders Program.  Dr. James is the author of several books and more than 50 peer-reviewed journal manuscripts.

AI Expertise

Dr. James is the Director of AI Initiatives and Strategic Planning in the Department of Health Education and Behavior. She is the editor of the AI Faculty Handbook for Adding AI to Your Courses (2022). She has also developed several AI training courses for health professionals.
