I AM . . . Morning Meditations

“You are what you say about yourself”

You are what you believe. You are what you think. You are what you say to yourself.

This means you must be careful and intentional with your words, with what you say to yourself and about yourself.

Repeating affirmations will condition your mind, rewire your brain, and purify your thoughts as you continue your health and wellness journey.  Affirmations will strengthen you when you are weak.  They will also lead you in the direction you want to go.  Repeating them regularly will strengthen your “thought muscles.”

Using “I am” affirmations will ground you in the present.  Today is yours.  Yesterday is gone.  Tomorrow will take care of itself.

I wrote this “I am” affirmation poem in my journal one Monday at 5 am as part of my daily devotion and morning meditation (medication).  I could not write my usual two to three pages.  My mind was stuck, and this was what came to me and flowed from my pen. Not bad for a Monday morning.

I am here bright and early

I am here, ready to run this race

I am FREE, FREE to be me, FREE to be all God created me to be

I am a warrior and I face this day with courage

I am here on bended knees and hands lifted high

I am humbled by the gifts and talents that I hold in my hands

I am ready to slay all the giants in the land

I am ready to plant

I am ready to harvest

I am limitless

I AM . . .

–Dee

I have collected about 100 I AM statements including:

  • I AM loveable
  • I AM kind
  • I AM a great teacher
  • I AM healthy
  • I AM in control of my emotions
  • I AM a BAD ASS

However, Coco reminded me that I had not done “I AM” affirmations in a while.  Collecting them has no value unless I state them consistently.

Reflect

  1. What thoughts about yourself do you need to purify? (Example: your weight, success, ability to accomplish something big in your life, etc.)
  2. Write 5 “I am” statements that you can repeat throughout the day for the next week.
